This set of modules follows and begins the second of the Dragonlance Chronicles, whereby the PCs quest to find one of the Dragon Orbs. Book contains four modules to play and recommended for 7-8 characters of levels 6-9. It introduces many new creatures of krynn (such as Thanoi (Walrus-Men), Ice Bears and many others) and new magical items (such as Frostreavers, Glasses of Arcanist, Orb of the Silver Dragon and others).

Average review score:

Dramatic clash of epic armies
The DL series was a huge leap forward for TSR - these modules featured a new emphasis on drama and storytelling that made the gaming MUCH more fun and involved for the PCs and the DM. Of course, at heart, being TSR modules from the 80s, they're still dungeon crawls! In this chapter, the entire drama unfolds as the great wars of Krynn are fought out at last - all of the most notorious villains, legendary heroes, and mighty dragons clash here, and it's up to you and your players to determine the future of a world! A sprawling campaign set for high adventure.

Desperate adventure against overpowering evil
The DL series was a huge leap forward for TSR - these modules featured a new emphasis on drama and storytelling that made the gaming MUCH more fun and involved for the PCs and the DM. Of course, at heart, being TSR modules from the 80s, they're still dungeon crawls! In this chapter, the heroes (trailed by hundreds of very angry dragonlord minions!) must flee into the Kharolis Peaks, seeking the legendary dwarven city of Thorbardin. As they are the PCs'only hope, it's rather grim to think that the place is probably a fairytale, and even if it does exist, no one knows where... a dark adventure for levels 6-8.

Great adventure in the shadows of Neraka
The DL series was a huge leap forward for TSR - these modules featured a new emphasis on drama and storytelling that made the gaming MUCH more fun and involved for the PCs and the DM. Of course, at heart, being TSR modules from the 80s, they're still dungeon crawls! In this chapter, the heroes (levels 10-13) must delve into the City of Neraka, and end the evil that plagues Krynn, by facing the Queen of Darkness herself...

Fat Women Don't Jog but They Do Climb Trees
Published in Paperback by American Literary Press (December, 1999)
Author: Pepper Hickman
Average review score:

No fat between the ears
I gotta admit, I put the book one the shelf for a month after I received it. After all, I'm not a fat woman and that's the target audience, right? Wrong! (about the target audience). This turned out to be a delightful book. It is a must read for anyone with a sense of humor no matter if you're fat, thin, male, female, whatever! Pepper has taken the time to encourage people to "draw outside the lines". She points out the often overlooked fact that it's style that counts, not what your scale says. I like the fact that she is so damn comfortable with herself and if and when she loses weight (which she is doing right now) it will be because SHE wants to and not because anyone else thinks she should. This book is a celebration, not of being fat, but of being valuable, eccentric, intelligent, and funny no matter what the package!

Mind of a Manager Soul of a Leader
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (April, 1990)
Author: Craig R. Hickman
Average review score:

Gets to the heart of most internal corporate conflicts
Hickman's "Mind of A Manager, Soul of A Leader" is 281 pages of lucidly written management insight that goes well beyond the typical dry, anecdotal discourse of the genre. The co-author of "Creating Excellence", Hickman dissects the psychological core of the conflict between the "manager" and "leader" personality types; a conflict he ably shows can be productive if understood and harnessed.

Numerous business scenarios and reality-based interactions are viewed through the perspective of each personality.

One such evaluation is "Conserving Plus Risking" whereby the "manager" conserves assets while the "leader" risks them. The "Plus" refers to the author's ongoing assertion that both can be had by the organization if astute enough to recognize the potential of each. If not, the organization will likely be dominated by one mind-set or the other, losing the value of the missing perspective and valuable resource.

Hickman does well in presenting a balanced view of both perspectives without condescension to either. The value of both to the organization is enhanced by the combination of the two.

The book can be of great benefit to both corporate and entreprenuerial businesses and individuals. The value of the human capital of all businesses is fully realized when the potential of both mentalities is used in concert to accomplish a balanced perspective.

New edition makes me want for more
The return of this beautiful book is as inspiring as the book itself. Never having seen the original however makes it hard to compare editions but as I am a BIG Adams fan the work is stunnning, the neat catergories help the beginner to understand Mr Adams and where he is coming from.

News from the End of the Earth: A Portrait of Chile
Published in Hardcover by Palgrave Macmillan (December, 1998)
Author: John Hickman
Average review score:

Readable and Informative
This is a very well written book that provides a lot of historical information in an easy to read manner. I have travelled to Chile twice and have found it difficult to obtain books that write about Pinochet in an objective manner, because contrary to most books on the subject he is not universally reviled within the country. I think the author covered the subject well, not hiding warts but giving credit for the positive aspects of the Pinochet regime -- i.e., preventing a civil war and instituting the foundations of Chile's successful free market econmomy. I disagree with the other review to some extent, in that the author relies on his personal experience only in a few instances in the second half of the book, and most of that writing comes from his well documented research. There is a lot of information here in one book.
